London applicants
Applying for Spain's Digital Nomad Visa from London
London-based applicants can use BLS International's Kensington centre to submit a Spain DNV application — or fly to Spain and apply via the UGE for a decision in approximately 20 working days. For most Londoners, the UGE route is faster and our recommendation.
Your two options
BLS London or UGE from Spain?
As a UK citizen, you enter Spain visa-free for up to 90 days. That means the UGE route — applying from within Spain — is open to you. Here is how the two options compare for someone based in London.
Fly to Spain, apply via UGE
Enter Spain on your UK passport, apply from within Spain
- ✓ Fastest route available to UK citizens
- ✓ No in-person appointment required
- ✓ 2.5 hours from London Heathrow or Gatwick to Barcelona or Madrid
- ✓ Government tasas included in our service
- ✓ 3-year residence permit issued directly
BLS International, Kensington
Apply in person at the BLS centre in London
- ✓ No need to travel to Spain before applying
- ✓ In-person submission at the BLS Kensington centre
- – 4–8 weeks slower than UGE
- – BLS service fee payable on top of government tasas
- – Converts to 3-year permit only after arriving in Spain
How BLS London works
The BLS process — step by step
BLS International is the outsourced visa application centre for Spain in the UK. It does not make decisions on visa applications — it accepts, processes, and forwards them to the Spanish Consulate General, which makes the final decision.
Prepare your full document pack
Gather all required DNV documents — income evidence (3–6 months payslips and bank statements), employment contract or client agreements, ACRO criminal record certificate with FCDO apostille, Spain-approved health insurance policy, and completed EX-20 application form. We manage this preparation for you.
Book your BLS appointment online
Appointments are booked at blsspain-uk.com. Choose the London centre (Cromwell Road area, Kensington). Appointment availability varies — book as early as possible once your documents are ready.

Bring your full document pack to your appointment. BLS staff check and receive your documents. You pay the BLS service fee at this point, and any applicable government tasa (Spanish visa fee) — these are separate payments.
BLS fee + tasas paid separatelyBLS forwards to the Spanish Consulate
Your application is forwarded to the Spanish Consulate General in London. The Consulate reviews your application and makes the visa decision. BLS has no influence over this decision — it is made entirely by the Spanish authorities.
Decision returned via BLS — typically 4 to 8 weeks
On approval, you receive a 1-year entry visa (not yet a 3-year permit — that comes after arriving in Spain and completing the conversion step). BLS will contact you to collect your passport with the visa.
We recommend the UGE route for most London applicants
With direct flights to Barcelona in under 2.5 hours, and the UGE route producing decisions in approximately 20 working days, most London-based applicants are better served by flying to Spain to apply. The UGE route is faster, simpler, and produces a 3-year permit directly rather than a 1-year entry visa. Contact us to discuss which route makes sense for your situation.
Key documents
What London applicants need to prepare
Whether you apply via BLS or UGE, the core document requirements are the same. The most important item to get started on early is your ACRO criminal record certificate — it takes the longest.
ACRO certificate + FCDO apostille
Apply online at acro.police.uk for an overseas police certificate. Allow 2–6 weeks. Once received, the certificate must be apostilled by the FCDO (Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office) via gov.uk/get-document-legalised. Start this immediately — it is frequently the longest-lead document in any UK DNV application.
Payslips and bank statements
Provide 3–6 months of payslips (or client invoices for freelancers) plus corresponding bank statements showing an income equivalent to at least €2,849/month. GBP documents are accepted. UK Ltd directors must show personal income (salary plus dividends) — company turnover alone is insufficient.
